Conveyor belt and idler specification guide
Use these published examples to describe your conveyor requirements more precisely.
The figures below are third-party reference examples, not Hengtai product ratings or evidence of affiliation. Confirm the required specification and available configuration in your quotation.
Steel cord belts: rating and cover thickness
Continental's Flexsteel catalogue lists the following examples. The cover pair means carrying-side / pulley-side thickness. These cover dimensions are examples for that manufacturer's constructions, not a universal requirement for a given ST designation.
| Designation | Example covers, mm |
|---|---|
| ST 500 | 6 / 4 |
| ST 1250 | 7 / 5 |
| ST 2500 | 8 / 6 |
For a replacement, send the full belt designation, width, cover thicknesses, pulley diameters and splice details. A matching designation alone does not establish interchangeability.

Heat-resistant belts: continuous versus peak temperature
Dunlop's technical article describes market labels T150 and T200 in relation to continuous material temperatures of 150°C and 200°C. It explains that temperatures above a continuous limit can only be tolerated briefly. These labels are not a blanket temperature guarantee for all belts.
State the normal and peak material temperatures, how long peaks last, belt surface temperature, ambient temperature and cooling conditions. Confirm the selected compound's documented limits before ordering.

Idlers: trough angle and dimensional compatibility
Rulmeca's CEMA C page lists troughing sets at 20°, 35° and 45°. These are useful examples of different arrangements, not evidence that every angle fits an existing conveyor.
Record the installed angle, belt width, roller diameter, shell length, shaft-end details and mounting centres. Include belt speed and loading conditions when requesting a replacement.
